The Government of Slovenia Endorses ALiEnS-SOC as a Strategic National Cybersecurity Project

October 20, 2025

At its 169th regular session, the Government of the Republic of Slovenia adopted a decision to include several strategic projects in the field of cybersecurity in the Development Programme Plan 2025-2028.

With these initiatives, Slovenia is strengthening its role as an active member of the European Union (EU) in the field of cybersecurity. By enhancing national capabilities, participating in international consortia, and developing innovative solutions, Slovenia aims to improve the protection of critical infrastructure and raise the level of information security for citizens and businesses alike.

We are pleased that the ALiEnS-SOC project – Artificial Intelligence for the Security Operations Centre of the Slovenian Electro-Energy Sector – is among the projects included in the Development Programme Plan 2025–2028.

Several Slovenian companies and public institutions are involved in the project consortium. The proposal for the project was submitted in the spring of 2024, received approval in the second half of the year, and entered the implementation phase in January 2025. The project is co-funded by the European Union at a rate of 50% and supported by the European Cybersecurity Competence Centre. The total value of the project is EUR 9.92 million.

The project is scheduled to conclude by the end of 2027, when the developed solution will become fully operational within the centralized Security Operations Centre for Slovenia’s power sector. This will not only strengthen Slovenia’s cyber resilience but also establish a new European benchmark for protecting critical infrastructure through the power of artificial intelligence. A particular emphasis is placed on ensuring the ethical use of AI, mitigating algorithmic bias, and promoting transparency.
Electricity is no longer just a utility – it’s the pulse of our digital society. ALiEnS-SOC stands at the forefront of protecting it, using AI to secure the future of energy.
