Artificial Intelligence for Next-Gen SOCs: Join Our Upcoming Online Workshop

September 30, 2026

On 14 October 2026, the ALiEnS-SOC and NG-SOC projects will join forces for the online workshop Artificial Intelligence for Next-Gen SOCs, bringing together cybersecurity experts to exchange knowledge, approaches and technologies for strengthening modern security operations and the resilience of critical infrastructures.

Two projects, a shared cybersecurity challenge

As cyber threats become increasingly sophisticated and digital infrastructures more interconnected, Security Operations Centres need to continuously evolve their capabilities to detect, analyse and respond to emerging threats.

ALiEnS-SOC addresses this challenge from the perspective of the energy sector. The project is developing an AI-based cybersecurity framework aimed at strengthening cyber resilience, with particular attention to IT and OT environments, advanced threat detection and response, and trusted Cyber Threat Intelligence exchange. The project is being piloted and validated within the Slovenian electro-energy environment, while its solutions are being developed with wider European applicability in mind.

NG-SOC approaches the challenge by developing an interoperable, privacy-by-design cybersecurity toolkit covering the entire cybersecurity cycle. Its work includes early detection and classification of attackers’ tactics, techniques and procedures, automated threat and incident detection, investigation and response, as well as actionable CTI sharing. The project also addresses automation and orchestration of incident response and continuous cybersecurity learning.

By bringing the two projects together, the workshop will offer complementary perspectives on how AI, CTI and next-generation technologies can support more capable and collaborative SOC environments.

What can you expect?

The workshop will open with the ALiEnS-SOC perspective on enhancing cyber resilience in the energy sector, presented by Gorazd Rolih, SOC Manager at ELES, and Alexander Schmelev, Cybersecurity Specialist at ELES.

The focus will then turn to NG-SOC, with Apostolos Gkletos, R&D Cybersecurity Team Leader at European Dynamics, and George Chatzipapas, R&D Cybersecurity Engineer at European Dynamics, presenting how the project is working to strengthen security operations and the resilience of critical infrastructures.

Artificial Intelligence will take centre stage with Matevž Kuhelj, Cybersecurity Expert at Smartis, who will present A Multi-Level Approach to AI in the SOC, providing the ALiEnS-SOC perspective on the role of AI within modern security operations.

The workshop will also address the importance of Cyber Threat Intelligence. Metod Platiše, Product Manager at Telekom Slovenije, will present the ALiEnS-SOC Perspective on Trusted Services, Communities, and Platforms for CTI in the Electricity Energy Sector.

Finally, Apostolos Gkletos and George Chatzipapas will return with a second NG-SOC contribution, NG-SOC AI & CTI Technologies: Advancing Cyber Threat Detection and Intelligence, focusing on the project’s AI and CTI technologies and their role in supporting advanced threat detection and intelligence capabilities.
